He first became known as a member of Charles Lloyd's group, a group that Keith Jarrett too was a fraction of at that time. He played by means of Bill Evans in 1968 on the highly praised Bill Evans at the Montreux Jazz Festival, plus as of 1969 to 1972, played by means of Miles Davis and recorded albums for ECM as together leader and sideman.
