He later acquired dual nationality (French and American). He began his childhood primary in Novel York plus Los Angeles, California. After studying at the International School of Geneva and the Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland, Dassin moved rear to the United States to go to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

After college, he enthused rear to France where, as working at a radio position, a record tag convinced him to start to evidence his songs. He was also a talented polyglot, recording songs in German, Spanish, Italian plus Greek, as healthy as French and English. He died of a spirit attack during a vacation to Tahiti on Imposing 20, 1980. He is interred in the Hollywood Everlastingly Graveyard in Hollywood, California.
