They formed in 1989 as Equipment of Loving Grace (named for a Richard Brautigan verse). The original array consisted of Scott Benzel (lyrics), Stuart Kupers (guitar plus bass), and Mike Fisher (keyboards), by means of Brad Kemp (drums) added shortly thereafter. The group was unable to rerecord their material for their eponymous debut album, as the label free their demonstration as it was recorded. Two existence afterward, the group free Concentration.

In 1995, Equipment of Loving Elegance free their third book, Gilt. This evidence was noticeable by an greater than before guitar attendance. Novel bandmembers built-in David Suycott (drums), Beam Riendeau (deep) plus Tom Coffeen (guitar). As of 1997, the band was operational on a new record, but before it was finished the band bankrupt up.

This was precipitated by problem at the tag, plus Benzel's wish to labor on additional projects, in the middle of additional reasons. As of 2006, Benzel is involved with an electronic group, called Soulo. Mike Fisher is at present by means of Amish Scrape Brawl.
