Later he become literature plus history teacher in a Milanese Far above the ground Train, an activity he by no means stopped. His primary solo book is Parabola of 1971. His 1974 LP, Il re non si diverte, obtained the Most excellent Year's Book Award from the Italian musical critics.

In 1976 he in print his first winning labor, Elisir, other than he became well-known only in the next year, by means of Samarcanda. His pal Angelo Branduardi played violin in the LP. Vecchioni's skills were confirmed in the following works, Calabuig, Stranamore e altri incidenti (1978), anywhere the text citations are predominant, and Robinson (approach salvarsi la vita) (1979), anywhere in its place the autobiographical inspiration prevails. The following album, Montecristo, was free indeed by the old plus the new labels together.

The eponymous mp3 featured Francesco De Gregori live blues harp. The LP was accompanied by his first literary effort, a small book with the same person's name. Many of the cover of Vecchioni's LPs of this era were disegned by the famous Italian comic book performer and artist Andrea Pazienza. His prose mechanism include the tale collection Viaggi nel cadence immobile (1996) and the novels Le parole non potrano le cicogne (2000) plus Il libraio di Selinunte.
