Jon wanted to create a novel group after live by means of the band Aftershock on their first demo, entitled To Ashes. Solemn Eyes to the Sky, the band's first appearance book, was free in 1997 through Dull Bachand's recording tag, Lifeless Minutes. Shadows Fall's debut record garnered the group substantial attention in the Massachusetts area plus led to a evidence contract with Californianindependent metal tag, Century Media Records. Of One Blood, the band's second book, was free in 2000.
Of One Blood featured Brian Fair, formerly of Cloudy, as a replacement for Phil Labonte. Labonte went on to be the frontman for the band Every one So as to Remains. Labonte's guttural Death Metal vocal style was replaced with Fair's variety of screams plus lively growls, hardcore yelling, raspy and clean singing.
Shadows Fall embarked on a worldwide tour with a wide range of artists, counting The Misfits, King Rhombus, plus In Flames. The band's third book, The Painting of Balance, was free on September 17, 2002. It was inspired by a quest to discover a perfect equilibrium of melody and aggression.
Jason Bittner buoyed the rhythm part as the band's novel drummer. The Art of Balance was noticeable by a move away from the melodic death metal style to a traditional thrash metal. Bachand's clean vocals were used less often. Gloom Drop was invited to engage in recreation on Ozzfest tour in 2003.

Shadows Fall released their primary DVD, The Painting of On the road, in November of 2005. A live concert by means of backstage recording and six music videos are featured on the DVD. They released their final CD on the Century Media tag, Fallout from the War, on June 13, 2006.
The album pointed at 83 on the Top 200 charts. The group lately signed a contract by means of Roadrunner Minutes intended for global sharing of the novel evidence. The band cancelled residual dates on a fall tour with Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Deceased in not on time October to finish writing the novel album. Shadows Drop have recently been announced to play on The Black Crusade tour along with Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce and Arch Enemy.
