The name Mouth Music is a translation of the Gaelic term puirt a beul (the vocalisation of instrumental melody). Piper and fiddler Martyn Bennett was a featured collaborator on this book. In June 1991, Swan made the decision to abandon his focus on Gaelic plus leave the pair, creating a quintet under the name Mouth Music. She has recently free a new CD, Indian Summer (which includes two of her possess Gaelic compositions) on her label SONAS Multimedia. The 2005 album The Arrange of Things contains the track The Dae Doers, which is the oldest known written Scottish music extant.
