This album was very different from their preceding two albums. It featured a softer sound (a number of supposed Machine Head went nu metal on this book), less guitar solos and rapped lyrics. To add to the different noise, it is speculated so as to there was a dissimilar approach and concept of the book as well. The primary few tracks are about having amusing and enjoying life, while the previous few are thought to be a mirror image on the realization of the bad in life, and in turn, the psychological effects they complete to guide to the suicide.
