Few words about Yesterday and Today

S. The album is remembered primarily for the controversy surrounding its original cover image, the "butcher wrap" featuring the band dressed in white smocks and covered with decapitated baby dolls and pieces of meat. This wounding up of their albums aggravated the Beatles, who felt they had "put a group of labor keen on the sequencing" of the British versions. This truncated American amalgam of Pistol, Help and Rubber Soul tracks would be the last Beatles album, prior to the group's demise, to have a track listing that differed as of its British counterpart. (20 Most Hits, a 1982 compilation, also had U.

S. and U. K. variants.

S. Billboard charts by 30 July 1966 plus was certified gold soon following. The group played along as they were weary of the usual photo shoots and the concept was compatible with their own "black humour". Although not at first intended as an album cover, The Beatles submitted photographs from the sitting for their promotional materials. In particular, John Lennon pushed to use it as an book cover.

They were assembled in Capitol's four U. S. plants, in Los Angeles, Scranton, Pennsylvania, plus Jacksonville, Illinois.

Mono copies outnumbered stereo copies by concerning 10 to 1, making the stereo copies far more precious today. A little part of the unique covers were shipped to floppy jockeys plus amass managers as go forward copies. Reaction was immediate.

The evidence was right away recalled. All copies were prearranged shipped back to the record label, leading to its collectability. It has been substantiated that the record was indeed for sale in a number of stores in limited areas, probably intended for only one daylight hours.

Capitol initially prearranged plant managers to destroy the covers, and the Jacksonville place delivered most of its copies to an region landfill. Tens of thousands of these were sent absent. Copies so as to contain never had the pallid cover pasted on them, known as "first state" covers, are very rare and command the highest prices. 00 and up in the middle of collectors. At the occasion, some of the Beatles defended the use of the photograph.

Though, not all of them were as comfortable by means of it. Yesterday and Today was the only Beatles evidence to lose money for Capitol. rarebeatles.
